What the Teacher Assignment Matrix is for
The Teacher Assignment Matrix gives you a bird's-eye view of which teachers are linked to which classes. Instead of going into each class one at a time to add or remove a teacher, you can manage all assignments from a single screen.
The module also highlights gaps: the stats row at the top of the page shows Total Teachers, Total Classes, Total Assignments, and — critically — Unassigned Classes. Any class with an Unassigned Classes count means no teacher has been assigned to it yet, which typically means mark entry and attendance for those classes are not yet operational.
Opening the matrix
- Go to Teacher Assignments from the main sidebar.
- The page loads with a stats row at the top and the assignment grid below.
Reading the grid
The grid is laid out as a matrix:
- Rows — each teacher in the school.
- Columns — each class section.
- Cells — a toggle switch. On (blue) means the teacher is assigned to that class; off (grey) means they are not.
You can read a teacher's row to see all classes they are currently covering, or read a column to see all teachers assigned to a particular class.
Assigning a teacher to a class
- Find the teacher's row.
- Find the class column.
- Click the toggle in the cell where they intersect to turn it on.
- The assignment is saved immediately — there is no separate Save button.
Removing a teacher from a class
- Find the teacher and class in the grid.
- Click the active toggle to turn it off.
- The teacher immediately loses access to that class's assessments and student data.
How the matrix relates to per-class assignment
The Teacher Assignment Matrix and the per-class assignment screen (accessed from Classes → class section → Assign Staff) control the same underlying assignments. Changes made in either place are reflected in both. Use the matrix when you need to make several changes across multiple teachers and classes at once; use the per-class screen when you are setting up a single new class and want to see that class's full staff list.
